Afrique Sports | Après une interview cinglante accordée au quotidien belge La Dernière Heure, Marc Brys, sélectionneur de l’équipe du Cameroun, s’est attiré les foudres des entraîneurs locaux.
Alors qu’il était absent du pays, Marc Brys a fait une réapparition remarquée lors de cet entretien, au moment où des tensions avec Samuel Eto’o, notamment au sujet du choix du stade pour la prochaine rencontre des Lions Indomptables, commençaient à monter. Le sélectionneur n’a pas hésité à critiquer sévèrement le président de la Fédération camerounaise de football (Fecafoot).
Bien qu’il reconnaisse la brillante carrière de footballeur d’Eto’o, Brys n’a pas épargné l’ancienne star du football, remettant en question sa courte expérience d’entraîneur (moins d’un mois à Antalyaspor en 2015-2016), ainsi que sa gestion en tant que dirigeant d’entreprise et président de la Fecafoot. En guise de réponse aux tensions, le technicien belge de 60 ans a rappelé qu’il n’était pas intimidé par l’ex-buteur, citant un échange houleux entre eux en mai dernier.
Les entraîneurs camerounais en colère
Bien qu’ils soient eux-mêmes en conflit avec l’ancien numéro neuf, notamment à cause d’un dress code imposé récemment, les entraîneurs camerounais ont, de manière exceptionnelle, fait bloc derrière le quadruple Ballon d’Or africain. L’Association Camerounaise des Entraîneurs et Éducateurs de Football a publié un communiqué lundi, exprimant son indignation face aux propos de Marc Brys.
« Nous avons lu avec émoi et stupéfaction l’interview de Monsieur Marc Brys – Entraîneur – Sélectionneur de l’équipe nationale du Cameroun, accordée au journaliste belge Yves Taildeman (…). Nous exprimons notre indignation face à cette attitude condescendante envers Monsieur le Président de la FECAFOOT et l’institution qu’il représente », peut-on lire dans le communiqué.
Vers un licenciement de Brys ?
La stupéfaction des entraîneurs camerounais est d’autant plus grande qu’ils affirment qu’ »aucun sélectionneur n’était allé aussi loin dans un tel affront envers l’autorité du football camerounais ». En invitant Brys à « faire preuve de plus de retenue » et à respecter le devoir de réserve imposé par ses fonctions, le syndicat a exhorté la Fecafoot à « prendre toutes les mesures légales nécessaires dans de telles circonstances ».
Par « conséquences », l’association fait allusion à une possible sanction de la part de la Fecafoot. Justement, lors d’une réunion du Comité exécutif ce lundi, l’instance aurait envisagé, selon des médias locaux, la possibilité d’une sanction, voire d’un licenciement du sélectionneur. Cependant, cette option reste incertaine, puisque Brys a rappelé qu’ »Eto’o n’a pas le pouvoir de me licencier, c’est la responsabilité du ministre des Sports ». En attendant, les tensions persistent…
Pourquoi les entraîneurs sont-ils furieux à propos des propos de Marc sur Eto’o et du niveau de corruption dans nos institutions ? Quel aspect de la déclaration de Marc n’est pas correct ? Je comprends maintenant pourquoi tout le monde dans ce pays cherche une occasion de voler et de se cacher dans l’obscurité. Quand sortira-t-il de l’obscurité ? Bientôt, ils diront que c’est le chef de l’État et les ministres qui sont corrompus !

How come these guys are not concerned about the accusations made by Marc which would alarm any potential coach with ambitions to work under Eto’o? I still think the minister was wrong to appoint a coach when you had a football federation in place, however, I think Eto’o has been a complete embarrassment as president of said federation
The solution is straightforward and can be deduced from Marc’s comments regarding Eto’o’s involvement in Fecafoot’s management. There must be a clear separation between the Fecafoot leadership and the national team’s coach. This interference led to the dismissal of Onana, the goalkeeper, from the recent World Cup. Given Eto’o’s persistent interference in the national team’s coaching affairs, how can the government entrust Fecafoot with appointing the coach? Song holds valuable insights on this matter but refrains from speaking out of loyalty and to maintain his friendship with Eto’o. Fecafoot seems more like “Fecafood,” where everyone is eager to claim their piece of the pie.
Onana was kicked out by Song because of lack of indiscipline, Rigobert Song said it and also Aboubakar in his interview. Eto´o does not need fecafoot to survive, make your research. He uses is money to pay their bills.

La solution est simple et se déduit des propos de Marc concernant l’implication d’Eto’o dans la gestion de la Fecafoot. Il doit y avoir une séparation claire entre la direction de la Fecafoot et le sélectionneur de l’équipe nationale. Cette ingérence a conduit au renvoi d’Onana, le gardien de but, de la récente Coupe du monde. Face à l’ingérence persistante d’Eto’o dans les affaires d’entraîneur de l’équipe nationale, comment le gouvernement peut-il confier à la Fecafoot la nomination du sélectionneur ? Song détient des informations précieuses sur cette question mais s’abstient de parler par loyauté et de maintenir son amitié avec Eto’o. La Fecafoot ressemble plutôt à « Fecafood », où chacun s’empresse de réclamer sa part du gâteau.
Song can not say anything against Eto’o or the management of fecafoot or the Ministry of youth and sports because his appoitment as national team coach before Marc took over was an umerited gift. Tell us, which coaching school did Song attend before he became coach of the national soccer team of Cameroon?
Song ne peut rien dire contre Eto’o, ni contre la direction de la fecafoot, ni contre le ministère de la jeunesse et des sports, car sa nomination comme entraîneur de l’équipe nationale avant que Marc ne prenne ses fonctions était un cadeau mérité. Dites-nous, quelle école d’entraîneur a fréquenté Song avant de devenir entraîneur de l’équipe nationale de football du Cameroun ?

Referring to the debate in the comments section of this page, all I can say is, the arguments are all a bunch of bollocks. An “Aryan” coach on African soil who overtly disrespects the President of Cameroon’s FA is a direct slap to the face of the whole populace. If y’all can see that, then I am short of words.
Am not the biggest fan of Samuel Eto. However, We must know that once a manager comes out and says such a thing about his employers then he has made up his mind to go. These people cannot keep coming to Africa and do things they would never do in their respective countries. For more than 25 years living in the West and a staunch football fan this mans name has never been a topic of discussion. We must stop coming to Europe and pick up inter quarters coaches and making them look relevant when they are nonentities in their own societies. This man must be sacked for failing to respect state institutions and its authorities. We must be brave and take hard decisions other wise the white man will never respect us. How dare him criticize FECAFOOT president?
@Martin Enow. How dare him you ask ? he was empowered by the minister to sports who hired him. Eto’o is not his boss but you’re right, he is not a household name …. he also cannot be any worse than Song. For one he is standing up to Eto’o’s ego which is great for Cameroon soccer.
Mark Brys is speaking from both ends of his mouth! If he frowns about Eto’o’s access to the Lions, highlighting conflict of interest,, while insisting at the same time that only the minister can fire him. He counts on his access to the minister , while punching the air bc Eto’o has access to the Lions! Secondly, he seems to be dabbling in politics! He should focus on his job, rather than trying to take Eto’o down.
